Inside the Third Reich, Speer makes curious observations about Hitler’s unwillingness to put off the reconstruction of Berlin even after the war in Russia had begun. Speer began making a name for himself as a hard-working improviser by helping to restore the railroads in occupied Soviet territory. Without a doubt, he positioned himself so well that Hitler made him Minister of Weapons in 1942. He was very astute about working his way upward in the Nazi hierarchy in order to gain more power and respect for himself like the other Nazis were doing. The author Evans describes the steps assumed by the Nazi State in war, since the attack of Poland. Special attention is paid to the eugenic ideology of Nazism. The mass murder of nomads, Jew, and mental sickness are referred. The war economy and the war machine in German are defined and confronted with the allies’ effort in wartime. In the Garden of Beasts, focuses on the perfectionistic new American ambassador and his family, who initially determined to think the best of Hitler and Germany in general. Hitler and his several lieutenants have the desire to restore Germany as a healthy flourishing country following the deprivations of WWI. More time is spent on seeing the evolving situation through the eyes of the Ambassador’s daughter as her understanding develops as the importance of her various relationships. To sum it up, I would recommend “In the Garden of Beasts” to anyone who is interested in Nazi Germany and the early days of Hitler’s rise.

“The Winter Army: The World War II Odyssey of the 10th Mountain Division, Americas Elite Alpine Warriors” is a history book that describes WWII. Maurice Isserman is the author of this history book. Maurice Isserman is a Professor of American History at Hamilton College, where he teaches U.S. history including the history of mountaineering. He has written numerous history books and all of them are worth to read. In The Winter Army, you will know the history of skiing in America and the history of the US Army’s 10th Mountain Division are so closely linked that you might almost say they’re one and the same.
